Mobile Application
Penetration Testing

Security testing for iOS and Android applications — covering the app binary, on-device data, runtime behaviour and the backend APIs it depends on, to find what an attacker could actually reach and abuse.

⊕

Service Overview

Mobile Application Penetration Testing examines how your app behaves on the device and how it communicates with the services behind it. A mobile app ships its logic into the user’s hands, so we assume an attacker who controls the device, the network and the binary.

We analyse the application statically and at runtime — how it stores data, handles authentication, protects keys and secrets, communicates with APIs and resists tampering. We then test the backend the app talks to, because most serious mobile risk lives in the API layer.

Every finding is validated on a real device or emulator with a concrete proof-of-concept, so you know exactly what is exploitable, what it exposes and how to fix it across both the client and the server.

// Client Trust Is Not Security

What happens when the attacker owns the device

Controls enforced only on the client can be bypassed once an attacker controls the device. We show where trust is misplaced — from insecure storage to weak certificate handling — and how it translates into real account or data compromise.

Benefits

[01]

iOS and Android coverage

We test both platforms with platform-specific techniques — Keychain vs Keystore, ATS vs network config, and the runtime protections each one offers.

[02]

Client and backend together

Most mobile risk is in the API. We test the app and the services it calls as one system, so authorization and logic flaws don’t slip through.

[03]

Real-device validation

Findings are proven on jailbroken/rooted devices or instrumented emulators with working proof-of-concept — not flagged from static analysis alone.

[04]

Store & compliance readiness

Results map cleanly to OWASP MASVS and platform review expectations, helping you ship with confidence.

Why Choose HackersForce

A combined static, dynamic and runtime assessment of the application and its backend — to find where data, credentials and logic can be reached or manipulated on a device the attacker controls.

▸ How we approach testing

We reverse and instrument the app to understand how it really works, then attack its storage, transport, authentication and backend the way someone with full device control would.

✓ Insecure local storage of sensitive data (files, databases, preferences)
✓ Credential, token and secret handling (Keychain, Keystore, hardcoded keys)
✓ Transport security and certificate validation (TLS, pinning bypass)
✓ Authentication and session management across app and API
✓ Authorization and access control on backend endpoints (IDOR, privilege)
✓ Client-side controls and how they can be bypassed
✓ Binary protections — root/jailbreak detection, tampering, anti-debugging
✓ Inter-process communication and exported components (intents, URL schemes)
✓ WebView usage and embedded content handling
✓ Backend API logic, rate-limiting and abuse cases
✓ Third-party SDKs, libraries and data leakage to external services
✓ Logging, caching and data left in screenshots or backups

Engagements follow a repeatable, standards-aligned process so coverage is consistent and every finding is traceable from discovery to remediation.

01

Scoping & Rules of Engagement

We agree platforms, builds, test accounts and backend scope in writing before testing begins.

02

Static Analysis & Reverse Engineering

We decompile and inspect the binary for secrets, weak logic, insecure storage and client-side controls.

03

Dynamic & Runtime Analysis

On real or instrumented devices we observe behaviour, hook functions and bypass client-side protections.

04

Backend & API Testing

We attack the services the app depends on — authentication, authorization, logic and abuse cases.

05

Reporting & Free Retest

You get an executive summary and technical report, then we retest your fixes at no extra cost.

A sample of the issue classes we routinely uncover in mobile applications — every report ties each one to a concrete proof-of-concept and a remediation path.

⚠ Insecure data storage on device
⚠ Hardcoded keys, secrets & tokens
⚠ Weak or missing transport security
⚠ Broken authentication & session handling
⚠ Broken access control on backend APIs
⚠ Bypassable client-side controls
⚠ Insecure IPC & exported components
⚠ Unsafe WebView & deep-link handling
⚠ Weak root/jailbreak & tamper detection
⚠ Sensitive data in logs, caches & backups
⚠ Vulnerable third-party SDKs
⚠ Business-logic abuse via the API

FAQs

Yes. We test each platform with its own techniques and protections. If you ship on both, we recommend testing both, since storage, transport and runtime behaviour differ.
No — we can test the compiled app in a realistic black-box or grey-box manner. Source or build artifacts help us go deeper and faster, but they are not required.
Yes, where they are in scope. Most serious mobile findings are in the API layer, so we test the app and its backend together rather than in isolation.
Test accounts covering each role help us probe authorization properly. A debuggable or non-obfuscated build speeds up runtime analysis, but we can also work with production builds.
Yes. Our mobile methodology aligns to the OWASP Mobile Application Security standards so coverage is consistent and mappable to recognised criteria.
An executive summary and a detailed technical report with validated findings, device evidence, CVSS scoring and prioritised remediation across client and backend — plus a free retest after fixes.
